The Resource Super Team

John joined the Board of Resource Super Holdings Pty in 2017 and became Chairman in 2019.

He has over 30 years of experience in management, finance and taxation. During this time, John has worked for both private and listed companies in Australia and the UK, including Opalcorp, Boosey and Hawkes (UK), Mercury Asset Management (UK), AMP, and HarTec Ltd. In 2001, John co-founded Qi Wealth, a financial services firm built to bring together a multi-disciplinary team of experienced wealth management professionals. John is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA), holds a Bachelor of Business from the Queensland University of Technology, is a registered tax agent, a member of both the National Tax Association of Australia (NTAA) and Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

John is also director of Digital Network Group Pty Ltd.

Brett joined the Board of Resource Super in 2011. Brett has over 30 years’ experience in financial services with a deep understanding of the superannuation sector. He is a successful leader and has expertise in providing solutions for organisations involving multiple stakeholders.
Brett is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (SAFIN), a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and has attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Education Program.

Nick joined the board of Resource Super in 2022 as a Non-Executive Director. He is also an Executive Director of Marex Australia, where he is Chief Operating Officer. Nick has 30 plus years’ experience in running finance broking, clearing and trading businesses in the Asia Pacific region. His past roles include CEO of Genesis Proprietary Trading and as Managing Director, Country Head of Societe Generale Securities in both Singapore and Australia. He has solid M&A skills and a successful track record creating good businesses with strong cultures. He holds a Bachelor of Business from ACU and has been an ASIC ‘Key Person’ on several AFS Licenses.

Nick is also a member of the Australia Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Nic is an accomplished senior manager with over 15 years’ experience predominately in the Resource Sector. He joined Resource Super in 2014 and is currently the Executive General Manager of the Company. In this role Nic is directly accountable for the supervision of operations Australia-wide.

As part of the Executive Team Nic’s focus is on the strategic positioning of the company, development and implementation of budgets and organisational structure. He also represents the business across the East Coast of Australia working with new and existing employers.

Nic holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communication from QUT and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning).

Todd has been working in the superannuation industry for nearly 20 years.  Todd has worked in a variety of senior roles for both Retail and Industry Funds, across Relationship Management, Business Development and Financial Planning.

Having spent a decade at NAB and MLC,  he first began working for Resource Super in 2016 which was the catalyst for his move to Perth, where he continues to reside.  Todd recently rejoined the team as General Manager – West Coast.

Todd enjoys the diversity of his role which involves being part of the management team, operations, whilst also interacting with employers, members and industry partners.  Todd holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Science (Management) and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning.

Krystal joined Resource Super in 2015 and is currently our Insurance Manager. Krystal’s responsibilities include overseeing both Claims and Underwriting teams and managing relationships with all internal and external Insurance stakeholders.  Krystal has a degree in Business Management from the University of Technology, Sydney and close to 10 years’ experience in the group and retail insurance space.

Patricia Montague joined the Board on 1 October 2020 and was appointed Chair on 5 December 2023. Patricia has over 30 years senior management experience in financial services with significant depth in wealth management and banking. Patricia is also on the Board of Hume Bank, where she is the Chair of the Remuneration and Succession Committee and a member of the Risk Committee. Patricia has a Bachelor of Arts (Pure Mathematics and Economics) from Queens University of Belfast and is a member of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). Patricia also serves on the People and Culture Committee and Member Services and Operations Committee.

Keith Knapman joined the Board on 1 June 2020. Keith has more than 30 years’ experience in the superannuation investment industry with extensive experience in all aspects of investment and actuarial consulting. This includes funding, insurance and compliance advice, liability driven investment solutions, and benefit redesigns including defined benefits to defined contribution conversions, successor fund transfers and transfers resulting from mergers and acquisitions. Keith has a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University and is a former Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. Keith also serves on the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee and Investment Committee.

Peter Gunning, CFA serves as Vice Chairman, Head of APAC. In this role, Peter focuses on ensuring that Russell Investments leverages all of the firm’s wide array of investment capabilities and expertise to fully benefit clients. He also is responsible for strategic oversight of Russell Investments’ business in the Asia-Pacific region including Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, he serves on Russell Investments’ executive committee. Previously, Peter served as Global Chief Investment Officer, with responsibility for all aspects of the firm’s investment division worldwide. Peter Gunning joined the firm’s Sydney office in 1996. Peter also serves on the Investment Committee and the Member Services & Operations Committee.

Ben Walsh joined the Board on 2 July 2024. Ben has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services including in Superannuation and Insurance. He was the Chief Life and Health Insurance Officer, and also the Chief Investment Officer at AIA Australia, was the Chief Country Officer at Marsh McLennan Companies (Australia) and was the Managing Director & CEO at Mercer Australia and New Zealand. Ben has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Melbourne University and a Master of Business Administration from the Melbourne Business School. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a portfolio of Non-Executive Director, Board Chair, and Committee Chair roles. Ben also serves on the Investment Committee, Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee, and the People & Culture Committee.

Ross Barry joined the Board on 16 September 2025. Ross has over 25 years’ experience as an investment professional in the Superannuation industry. Ross was previously the Chief Investment Officer for Spirit Super, one of Australia’s largest industry superannuation funds as well as a senior investment leader for Aware Super. Ross has also served as an independent Director of the Successful Palisade Diversified Infrastructure Fund. He holds a PhD in Applied Finance from Macquarie University. Ross serves as both a member of the Investment Committee and the People and Culture Committee.
